Ameia Cotton-Williams is the daughter of Roger and Wanda Cotton and is the baby out of four beautiful girls. Ameia was born and raised in LaGrange, GA. She has built a remarkable career dedicated to community service, leadership, and empowerment. As a daughter, mother, wife, and active member of her community, she embodies the values of service, advocacy, and growth.
Ameia's educational background, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Miles College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Strayer University, laid the foundation for her influential career in both the public and private sectors. She made an impactful contribution as Vice President and Co-owner of Hamil and Associates, Inc., a probation services company, where she managed operations and worked closely with probationers, law enforcement, and government agencies. Her role enabled her to shape policies and contribute to the rehabilitation of individuals within the justice system.
Her leadership abilities were recognized early on, earning her the Ruth Moore Humanitarian Award in 2013 for her dedication to community service. Ameia also participated in Georgia’s Young Game Changers Program in 2017, a prestigious initiative aimed at solving state-wide community challenges through innovative leadership. That same year, she was selected for Leadership Troup, an influential program that provides emerging leaders with the tools and experiences to drive positive change in their communities.
Ameia’s community involvement doesn’t stop there. She’s served on the board of HYPE Troup, volunteered with the LaGrange Police Department’s Community Outreach Program, and was instrumental in founding the Troup County Anchor Foundation Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to promoting charitable services and strengthening local neighborhoods. Through her work with these organizations, she’s helped improve the lives of young people, families, and vulnerable residents in her area.
As the Utilities Customer Service Manager for the City of Hogansville, she oversees operations to ensure smooth, effective service delivery, adding to her portfolio of leadership positions. Additionally, Ameia is deeply invested in educational empowerment, serving as an executive consultant for the Greater Achievement Youth Empowerment Academy, which provides free SAT/ACT tutoring to high school students. Ameia is also a member of the Junior Service League of LaGrange, GA.
Her passion for community service extends to causes such as Twin Cedars, an organization that provides critical services to at-risk youth and families. By raising funds for Twin Cedars, Ameia helps strengthen the resources available to support vulnerable members of her community.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Ameia is also a devoted wife to Rodney Williams and a proud mother of three children—Aniah, Rodney Jr., and Colby. In 2018, she became an illustrious member of the Troup-Coweta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Ameia’s commitment to service and leadership is a testament to her character and deep love for her community, making her a true asset to LaGrange, and other surrounding cities.
