April is National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, and on behalf of Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, we thank you for your commitment to the well-being of children in our community.
Twin Cedars is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children who have experienced abuse or neglect. In Opelika, we have three programs that serve our most vulnerable children. At our Twin Cedars Child Advocacy Center, we provide free therapy, forensic medical exams, forensic interviews, and family advocacy for children and families referred by law enforcement or child protective services. All child victims or witnesses to crime in our area are required to come through our agency, and no other local organization provides the comprehensive services we offer. We are there for children at their most vulnerable moments, helping them on their path to healing and justice. Keeping Family Connections is a supervised visitation program for children in foster care. Lee County CASA is a program that trains and supervises volunteers to be the voice for children in foster care. They make an incredible difference by providing recommendations for the custodial care of vulnerable children.
This year, we are excited to host our 3rd Annual “Bites, Brews, & Blues,” an evening featuring tastings from local culinary talent, craft brews, live music, and an engaging silent auction. This event not only celebrates community but also raises critical support for these three programs.
